Department of Geobotany and Ecology Research activities The main directions of research are ecology of plants and plant communities, development of scientific principles of ecosystem classification and techniques for assessing the impact of ecological factors on patterns of differentiation, structure and dynamics of vegetation; geobotanical and ecological mapping; modeling and prediction for optimization of conditions and protection of ecosystems. The main research directions are studies of plant communities and factors that determine their structure, dynamics and productivity; development of biological principles of the rational use and protection of natural vegetation, geobotanical mapping and studies of regional vegetation patterns. The department participates in developing the national ecological network, classification of vegetation and compiling of the cadastre of the flora and vegetation of Ukraine.
